3 Fl&oaacute;via Müller Medeiros uses performance, photography and video to explore how language shapes understanding, and its relationship to artistic representation. For Showtime, the artist will intiate an exchange with actor Ben Lewis about João Francisco dos Santos, a Brazilian drag artist known as Madame Satã. Medeiros and Lewis will develop a semi-fictional narrative around dos Santos, who, born into a family of former slaves in Northern Brazil, battled with the stigma of his illiteracy and homosexuality.

4 Every year Brazilians come together to celebrate traditional stories of love and desire in exuberant festas of theatre, dance and music. The myths, heroes and legends of Brazil come to life, as a performance of song and dance flows out of the Young Vic and into The Cut. Thrilling for all the family. Put the Young Vic"s Festa! at the top of your summer calendar. Led by Brazilian artists from London and by Spetaculu of Rio de Janeiro, with over 100 community members from Lambeth and Southwark.

5 Funk your way through the Bank holiday weekend with the first Brazilian Carna Funk concert. This is the way thousands of Brazilians enjoy the Carnival festivities in Brazil with Samba rhythms and Baile Funk beats mashing up the streets side by side. This event is set to be a fitting tribute to the Notting Hill revelries.
Slamming up the night with the unconventional (funk not like you know it) and crazy MC and DJ-led sounds of Baile Funk (which means funk ball) are two of Brazil's most popular and internationally respected funk bands. Live and uncut on stage is Brazil's queen of funk, TATI QUEBRA BARRACO and joining her is BONDE DO TIGRAO, the top selling trio of bump and grind MCs and dancers.
Responding to the ghetto party challenge will be the inspirational and pulsating samba beats from the LONDON SCHOOL OF SAMBA They are accompanied by their sensual, fleet-footed and gorgeous Passistas.
By mixing the glorious, sunshine and mesmeric sounds of samba and the crude charm of Baile Funk you're guaranteed a Carna Funk night of serious juxtaposition and difference.
DJ ARENNA will be spinning variations of samba from samba enredo to samba reggae, funk, hip hop, electro, house and drum n bass. Also appearing on the night is MC DENIS with his brand of UK Baile Funk and upcoming British hip hop and lyrically strong artist Mr SHAODOW from South East London.
Come dressed to sweat at the Carna Funk ball!! For more information go to www.popozaoshop.com
